If I knew, I would have frozen my eggs many years ago! I was inspired to look into it after a year in a relationship where a baby was constantly requested out of me (with no care about my epic, intense, and extremely busy travel/work schedule for the next couple years or forever) and I actually researched Barcelona first since I consider it a second home, and know a few women who have done it here. I am still shocked at how affordable it was compared to USA and I hope more women see this, because I can’t imagine how many aren’t able to do this due to costs! So please share the good news! Here’s a breakdown of my current costs so far VS costs in USA **WITHOUT insurance!! (BTW my retrieval is TOMORROW, wish me luck!!!) $2500: Full procedure including 3 ultrasounds, 3 hormone blood works (monitoring), constant communication with nurses and doctors, anesthesia and OR fees, retrieval, freezing process, and 4 years of storage. *drops the mic* (in USA it starts at around $12k for this) $1000 for the hormone medications (around $4k in USA) $800 for mandatory preliminary ultrasound and full blood work panel that I did in Tulum, but it costs $450 in Barcelona (in USA around $3k) $1400 to rent an apartment for the month though you only need to be here for about 10 days though, I just felt like staying longer (in USA my last rent in LA was $2700/mo) $600 RT flights (I flew from Mexico, it is probably more from USA) BTW when you’re ready to attempt using your eggs, IVF is only $5300 (and also BTW the birth rate at Fertilab is 44.5%, more on this on my blog and the next post). One of the many reasons why I don’t live in USA is because of the corrupt healthcare system and costs. Making things like this so expensive that people can’t attain it, which probably causes a lot of anxiety, depression, and relationship problems. If you’re unsure if you want a baby or not, and want to wait longer, but want to have a back up plan, I’d suggest freezing your eggs, even if the chances of success later aren’t 100%!
