Swipe to see this time last year! 😭🥰 I can't believe I'm writing this but Alf actually slept the longest he's ever slept last night - 9:30-5am fast asleep in his cot. He only woke up because I went to check him to see if he was ok. That was honestly the best Mother's Day gift I could ever ask for! It's been a wild 365 between these two photos. I've been the happiest I've ever been to the lowest I've ever been and now I'm back on my feet and feeling happy and grateful. I'm so grateful to all the amazing mums and friends on and offline who helped me get back to myself and embrace motherhood. Thank you ❤️🙏 Here's some of the things Motherhood has taught me in the last year: Mums are amazing and deserve more respect in society. Trust your intuition - there's lots of things people say you should and shouldn't do but you know your baby better than anyone. Have the confidence to follow your gut. The journey of matracence is the most invisible and psychologically challenging thing I've ever experienced. Self care is important. "You cannot pour from an empty cup" Our bodies are absolutely incredible and deserve to be worshipped by society. Everyone's experience is totally unique to them and mums need support not judgement. Everything you think you wouldn't do as a mum you'll probably do. Not enjoying all aspects of parenthood doesn't make you a bad mother. Doing what makes you happy will make you a better mother. There's nothing more joyous than hearing your little person say *mama* or laughing. Being a mum should be a legitimate role and any CV - I don't know anyone who works harder and multi task better. Being a mum catapults you into a parallel universe where everything is the same but through completely different lenses. Mums are the best community - it's a brilliant and supportive sisterhood. And finally... There's a reason sleep deprivation is used as a form of torture. 🤣 Take photos! What else has Motherhood taught you? Happy Mother's Day to all the Mums and mums to be and thinking of everyone who finds today difficult. ❤️」3月27日 19時04分 - ashleylouisejames
