I'm just so obsessed. 🤱🏼 Postpartum bodies get a really hard time, don't they? In society and in our brains. It feels unfair. When you're pregnant, society worships your body. You're a miracle. You're glowing! And then you go through childbirth and suddenly have this new appreciation and respect for your body... And it's suddenly treated with so much disdain. The once worshipped body is suddenly ugly. "Are you going to bounce back?", you're asked. "don't let yourself go!". "Look at the baby weight!". And then there's our own personal feelings: we don't know what to wear, we're bleeding, our nipples hurt, we're tired. It's hard to feel good in the moment. But when I look back at my postpartum figure with Alf, I think I looked awesome. I love seeing how my body changed. And I'm proud of my body for recovering and feeding him for 12 months. You don't see the blood and the pain and the aches - and you just feel respect and wonder for this awesome body. So I decided that my postpartum body needed celebrating permanently. Why should it only be pregnant bodies that get admired? I'm so proud of my body. And it was so special that Ada needed to feed at the moment we were ready to go - so now we have immortalised our feeding journey. And for my personal journey - that's another reason to love my postpartum body. It is still feeding my baby - just on the outside of my body. I always think we should take so many photos because our babies and bodies change so much. Getting to have such a long feeding journey comes with so much sacrifice - of our independence and body autonomy, but they're moments I'll treasure forever. I love seeing the statues side by side - it's a nice reminder that our bodies don't need to look one way to be amazing and miraculous! Would you be brave enough to pose naked for this?
