We went to a really cute festive restaurant called Dalloway Terrace - I ate carpaccio and risotto and the food was so nice. The bar there made me want our next house to be pink again! Can I be honest about something? I feel like often on social media, parenthood looks effortless. I remember when I was pregnant with Alf, thinking our relationship would never change because we're equal! But the truth is, change is inevitable. People tell you to make time for each other when you have kids, - but it's easier said than done when you're busy, tired, breastfeeding, or touched out. Or when going out together costs money because you need to get childcare (on top of the childcare you need in the day to be able to work). Anyway, my point is, for us: dates are rare. Very rare. It's been interesting having a second baby because in some ways we're more experienced to be able to navigate a newborn and so we're better prepared. Like having separate beds - I figured when Ada only needs me to breastfeed there's no point in us both being tired - especially with a toddler - and actually it works well for us. But because it's our second it feels even longer since we've been just us. It's hard for things not to be about logistics. Sometimes I wish we'd had longer together before kids. Just Tommy and I. But I'd never want to change things or the people we've created. And actually what's really interesting is that all my friends in relationships who have kids have gone through the same conversations and changes as we have - whether they've been together a month or decade. We've fit a lot into the last almost 4 years (can you believe we've only been together 4 years and have 2 babies?). We promised each other an adventure when we first met - and it's been one hell of an adventure.
