As if what Lori Anderson wrote years ago was a prophecy, today all the human misery and weakness we've created, with people everywhere, are rising up. These are pieces of people, pictures of people I met in 2018-2019, in India… Lightbulb man, selling tidbits of snuff and candies very late along an alleyway next to our hotel in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh…A fellow drinking water after having chai at a little tiny market in Chhapar, Rajasthan, where of course I also had chai… Pieces of people, preparing a large display depicting Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, at a time when we need wisdom more than ever… And this kind fellow, who makes tasty fried things I cannot recall the name, along the side of the highway nearing Dehli. Just pieces of people, #nothingspecial, during these days of so much uncertainty, I am wondering how they are, where they are.
