ジョン・スタンメイヤーさんのインスタグラム写真 - (ジョン・スタンメイヤーInstagram)「On assignment earlier this year in China for @NatGeo, some moments aligned naturally. On Chinese Labor Day in May, I was wandering around Xi'an in Shaanxi Province at night by the bronze statue of Master Xuanzang. Tourists were taking selfies, though I was more interested in the beautiful insects swarming the inky yellow light. Xuanzang was a 7th-century Buddhist monk, scholar, traveler, and translator who spent 16 years on pilgrimage to India in 629–645 CE, translating dozens of manuscripts. He is the spiritual master known for his contributions to Chinese Buddhism. This photograph is from a much broader essay for chapter ten of the @OutOfEdenWalk, publishing in National Geographic magazine in September 2024. In thankfulness, it was selected for this year's NatGeo Pictures of the Year in the magazine's December issue and is available today on newsstands or in your postbox. Thank you, @sadiequarrier, for including Xuanzang, the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda behind the master, and flying insects in the magazine, with many other powerful images by my NatGeo colleagues and friends. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ @InsideNatGeo @NatGeo #china #XiAn #shaanxi #Xuanzang #insects #GiantWildGoosePagoda #OutOfEdenWalk #NatGeoPOY23」11月21日 2時22分 - johnstanmeyer
