And honestly, I guess I just decided that I'd rather try and fail rather than keep doing something that didn't make me happy. But fear was a big part of what took me so long. Fear of failure, and fear of what other people would say. When I quit my job, I'd managed to save up a tiny amount of money and I moved out of London and in with a friend to save on rent. I paid to do a week-long TV presenting course on the Monday after I quit and then I sent it out to every production company, TV channel or celebrity I could possibly find online. But the scariest thing of all was posting it on Facebook, because then I'd be judged by people who knew me rather than strangers. I remember how scared I was as I pressed publish and changed my job to Presenter, and then having to tell myself that this is who I am and what I am and the people who gossiped would probably gossip anyway. And then I made sacrifices. I missed out on holidays and dinner with friends, I did so many random jobs just to make ends meet (like going to Wembley stadium and putting out flags on every single seat before a football match... You forget that people have to actually do that). And I just kept telling myself KEEP GOING! YOU CAN DO IT. Even when I got rejected (which I did 1000 times, including a very famous presenter who told me not to give up my day job - too late, hahaha).🤸‍♀️ So to anyone who asks me that question, no matter what it is you want to do, I suppose the answer is just believe in yourself (even if you have to force yourself too), and don't fear the judgement of others. Most people are too busy worrying about their own lives to pay as much attention to you as you think. Also, pursue your hobbies and do what you love, as it might just end up as your career. And just remind yourself that if someone else can do it then why not you! Most of us aren't born into this world, it's a combination of luck, hard work, and being in the right place at the right time... But you have to put yourself in that place in the first place. ❤️🤸‍♀️」2月13日 16時20分 - ashleylouisejames
