That's what I was discussing bright and early this morning on @gmb ☕ According to statistics, only 4% of hetro couples feature a shorter man, and a massive 9/10 women claim they would never date a man who's shorter than them. For those of you who missed it, here are my thoughts on this: Making fun of shorter men or ruling totally rule out dating shorter men is something we should work on eradicating as a society. It all boils down to traditional ideas of what it means to be masculine and feminine. For me, the most important thing when it comes to dating is finding someone who I'm socially, emotionally, intellectually and sexually compatible with. And even that's been hard enough to do! 😂 I'd way rather sacrifice inches for someone who makes me laugh, is kind, and has a sense of adventure. I think the desire to be with someone taller boils down to our own insecurities about what our patriarchal society deems to be feminine: feeling small and protected. But being and feeling feminine shouldn't boil down to our size (height or weight) and we can protect our God damn selves. 💅 I think there's so many unrealistic beauty standards for women, but a man's height is also the same. He can't exactly grow! I can't wait to see a more divisive representation of couples in films (different heights, interracial, same-sex). We're ready! Plus, I imagine a man comfortable with a woman being taller than him is less likely to be threatened by other gender stereotypes, like your success! 😎 I bet this is super divisive, but I'd love to know...
