“When are you gonna come down? When are you going to land?” @エルトン・ジョン began saying his goodbyes to New York City on Thursday night at @thegarden. It was his first New York City stop on his 3-year, globe-spanning “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, with a show that lasts more than two-and-a -half hours and doesn’t have room for all of his hits. At 71, #EltonJohn said he has been touring since 1969. He has racked up hundreds of millions of sales and the awards that go with them, and has scored hit Broadway musicals on the side. Though he doesn’t jump on top of his piano anymore, or kick up both legs while pounding the keyboard the way he used to, he still splashes his two-fisted chords and sings with focused gusto. “I will miss you very, very much,” he told the audience as he spoke about retiring from touring. @vnina took this photo of Elton Thursday at #MadisonSquareGarden.
