In 2014, @nicoleamaines successfully sued her school district after being denied access to the girl’s restroom at her school. On Sunday, she became TV’s first transgender superheroine when she took on the role of Nia Nal who will be revealed to be the superheroine Dreamer on @supergirlcw. “It is a phenomenal time to be a queer nerd,” Nicole said. “We have so much representation on the superhero shows!” Nicole thinks it’s critical to have a trans person playing a trans character because it “sends a message to trans kids that they are valid in their identities, that they are allowed to exist. @hellorozette took this photo of Nicole on #nytassignment.
