#SpeakingInDance | “I thought of a baseball game,” the choreographer Liz Gerring said of the 20-minute male quartet in “Field,” her newest dance. “They’re doing their own things, but they’re working as a team.” Opening at @peakperfs on Oct. 18, “Field,” which explores effort and form — the spare score is by Michael J. Schumacher and the design is by Robert Wierzel — has an earthiness to its movement. “As much as we’re soaring and jumping,” said the dancer @brandoncollwes, “I always feel that I’m coming back to the ground.” At times, it has a rolling-around-on-the-grass feel. For Liz, the most beautiful place to be is in a field. “That empty, expansive space is a huge part of my aesthetic,” she told the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ writer @giadk. “Your mind can think of what it wants to think about.
