RCNC 4020! Celebrated the 40th anniversary of Residents’ Committees and 20th anniversary of Neighbourhood Committees last night with activists past and present.
It was good to hold a combined celebration. We are planning to remove the distinction between RCs and NCs. This way neighbouring RCs and NCs can work more closely with one another, or even merge to cover both public and private estates. Residents can mix more freely and participate in community activities together.
We will set up new RCs and NCs as RNs – “Residents’ Networks”. Existing RCs and NCs can decide if they want to merge with neighbours, or stay as they are.
How we organise RNs, RCs and NCs is less important than the quality and commitment of our activists. RCs and NCs have been successful because of the people working hard in them.
