They sat in the street on tiny folding chairs or on the window ledges of apartments houses.” The children had gathered in November 1977 to watch the @Macy’s #ThanksgivingDay Parade, where the @ニューヨーク・タイムズ photographer @fredrconrad took this photo of 2 awestruck kids watching @smokeybear float toward Herald Square. That day, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reporters interviewed several other children on the scene. “Ain’t he supposed to have a happy face?” one child asked of a “dour-faced” balloon.
