Instagram allows us to show what Queensland’s destinations looks like in real time from real people, our locals and travellers. This real time ability of the platform lets us respond quickly to content trends and address misperceptions in the media. For example, where we have had an extreme weather event, we can use user generated Instagram content to demonstrate the current situation that an area is back open for business within a couple of days, clearing up any misconceptions in a timely manner. ________________________________________Q: How has UGC (User-Generated Content) helped you develop your account? A: The @queensland account predominately posts #thisisqueensland user generated content from locals, travellers and digital influencers (aka professional Instagrammers, photographers and bloggers). These Instagrammers are on the ground experiencing Queensland’s destinations in real time. They can cover more ground then we can so we rely on their amazing photographs to share pieces of Queensland with the rest of the world. ________________________________________Q: What motivated your choice to join Iconosquare? A: Iconosquare is the easiest way to community manage the @queensland Instagram account via desktop. Everyday we can see photos are being posted to a range of destination and event hashtags as well as the #thisisqueenslandhashtag quickly and we can manage comments on our photos.
