Traditional lab tests are too expensive for many parts of the world, but they’re essential for diagnosing disease. This tiny lab test — the size of a postage stamp — is made to solve that problem. When you dip the corners into a liquid, like blood or urine, the dots change color to reveal the diagnosis. All you have to do is snap a photo and a computer will evaluate the test. These ingenious little lab tests are made of paper and carbon tape, and can be produced en masse at almost zero cost. Learn more: on.ted.com/postagestamp
