This wetsuit is designed to prevent shark attacks. In Western Australia, the shark attack capital of the world, kite surfer Hamish Jolly teamed up with a group of scientists to create a suit that would stop sharks from eating swimmers. The suit uses bold stripes, like those seen on the pilot fish that trail sharks to eat their leftovers. Stripes or patterns are often seen in marine life to provide camouflage or tell another creature, “Hey, you don’t want to eat me!” In today’s fascinating talk from @TEDxPerth, Hamish Jolly shares two incredible wetsuit designs. You won’t want to miss the videos of how the sharks responded. Watch here: on.ted.com/wetsuit
