Many nocturnal bats are agile flyers and skilled hunters, relying on echolocation to capture airborne insects like moths. However, with the exception of some species, flying foxes rely on sight to fly and feed on fruits and leaves. On Kuchinoerabu Island and a few other islands in Kagoshima's Yakushima National Park, you can spot Erabu flying foxes, which were designated as national natural monuments in 1975.
