Takachihonomine, where Ninigi no Mikoto is said to have descended from the heavenly world to the earthly world and Hinotokomine (the ancient name for the Ohachi crater). ⛰🌎  Every year on November 10th, the ''Tenson Kourin Gojinkasai'' is held to celebrate Ninigi no Mikoto's descent to the earthly world. This ritual is still held at Takachihogawara. It is said that the ancient Japanese used the flames of the gods to guide Tenson Kourin to the earth. The Takachihogawara is the former site of Kirishima Jingu Shrine, where Shinto priests burn the year's offerings using sacred fires lit in a traditional way. The Shinto priest recites a verse in front of the pillar of fire, and attendees burn votive plaques to purify them. 🔥⛩  The ceremony is also held at the nearby summit of Mt. Takachihonomine.
