Conceived as a love letter to his German roots, the home was adorned with early 20th century advertising posters, furniture and works of art by German artists—including a recreation of his childhood bedroom. Radically designed pieces by Marc Newson and Martin Szekely interact with Art Deco furniture to which Karl Lagerfeld has remained faithful all his life, in particular to the creations of Louis Süe and André Mare. The villa's contents along with several other Lagerfeld residences formed part of a historic Sotheby's auction series and worldwide exhibitions in 2021 that paid tribute to the designer and provided an anthology of not only his personal taste but also of his life and career.
