Next we have a modern classic; the Supermarket Candy Sweetie necklace, designed to mimic the appearance of a delicious candy necklace. This piece first appeared on the 2014 runway as part of the now-famous Supermarket collection, where an entire Chanel superstore replete with CC emblazoned groceries was built inside the Grand Palais in Paris. Finally we have a spectacular piece designed by Victoire de Castellane, a close personal friend of Karl’s who designed much of Chanel’s best costume jewelry in the last 1980’s and early 1990’s. Castellane is now famous in her own right and also design high jewelry for #Dior. This necklace, called the “Pills & Peanuts” necklace, was too controversial for the runway when it was produced, but Karl later revisited the subject with Chanel’s spring 2007 collection, which featured pill-themed embellishments on clothing and jewelry.
