We need to discuss this, because the sooner we stop seeing our relationship status as good or bad, the sooner we make HEALTHY choices - regardless of age! I absolutely loved Bridget Jones. She was so funny and relatable, even when I first fell in love with her as a teen. It’s still my go-to feel-good movie. But now at the young age of 34, I actually cannot believe that Bridget is seen as a spinster. Having been single myself from 27-33, I can safely say that I really felt the weight of society’s judgement on my shoulders. I was constantly being asked why I was single, why nobody had snapped me up, and a male taxi driver even kindly reminded me that I would risk being left on the shelf soon as our beauty fades as women (I should add that he was no oil painting himself). But here’s the reality: the average life expectancy for women in the UK is 83 years. That means if you find yourself single in your 30s - whether you’re yet to meet someone, or you’ve just walked away from someone you’d been with for a long time - you still have 50 years of your life to live. FIVE ZERO. We do not need to lower your standards. We do not need to settle. We do not need to stay with a partner that no longer serves us - especially if we have kids. We still have a long life ahead. And we also do not need to spend every minute of every waking day obsessing over a man, or the fantasy of a man. Live your life, the life you want to live, and you will find them anyway! Travel, learn that hobby you’ve always wanted to, put all that love you have to give into your friendships - you’ll meet new friends and potentially your one living the life you want to live. I have a happy relationship now because I know I am ok on my own. I wasn't always like that. I used to hate being alone, but learning how to be happy alone means we only have people in our life because we want them, not because we need them. So break up with that toxic person. Stop chasing unavailable people. And know you can enjoy life regardlesss of your relationship status or age! ❤️🤸」5月4日 3時01分
