They are so happy and shocked each and every time I come. I show up in an old 50's car, straight from Havana, bringing gifts, and photos of their now-adult son and his kids back in Miami. They always ask me how Havana is now. They haven't been there in decades even though it's only 45 minutes away. I update them in Spanish about what Havana is like today. How the young artists are creating their own revolution, and how nice the entrepreneurs are making their Casa Particulars. But better yet, I can show them! Aside from my own videos and photos, I show them a new streaming app called @thegotraveler that's travel-content only, and has a show on there called Cuba Today! It makes me so happy to be able to show them their own country since they are unable to see it themselves, and I love seeing the parts I haven't been yet since I had to flee!
