DOING SOMETHING “JUST FOR YOU” IS NOT SELFISH.
So many women (mums especially) have told me that they feel guilty when they take time out of their day to focus on their health and fitness.
I can definitely relate to this. After Arna was born, I felt an immense amount of guilt and stress every time I would leave her with my Mum to go and do a workout (even though it was always when she was asleep). I felt really selfish doing something that was just for me, I honestly felt like a terrible mum (I will never be able to explain MUM GUILT - it's so real). BUT once I started working out and got into a good routine, I started to feel stronger and fitter, and I actually found a new sense of confidence and empowerment. Getting back into the gym helped me to feel like myself again.

What I realised was that doing something just for ME, that made ME feel good, actually made me a BETTER mum. Working out helps me to be stronger for my daughter and my family, both mentally and physically.

What I want you ladies to know is that taking care of yourselves actually helps you to take care of others. For me, my exercise and training routine helps me to be the best person (and parent) I can be, and it means I am such a better mother to Arna. Also, YES, being a mother is my most important job, but it’s also not my only job and being a mother doesn’t mean that I can’t take some time for myself sometimes.

My workouts are only 28 minutes out of my day, and they help me to be a happier, stronger, more confident person, which I think makes me a better mum. Doing three resistance workouts plus three LISS sessions (as recommended in my program) is actually just three hours over the course of the week. When you think about it, it's not much time at all. I won’t feel guilty for taking that time for myself, and I don’t want you ladies to either!
