We often have this misconception that girls who dress seductively will be very confident whilst girls who cover up will be very shy - in actual fact it can often be the exact opposite way around, but obviously I can’t speak for everybody here, this is just what I’ve noticed and how I sometimes feel. People tend to use masks and build walls when they feel threatened or uneasy; some turn to makeup to feel more beautiful, others may wear bold and eye catching clothes to imitate confidence or do something spontaneously out of character like cutting off long hair, booking a last minute holiday or making a large purchase without thinking it through. I find that when I am suffering and most vulnerable I want to dress up more and make more of an effort with my appearance in order to regain control of things that are still within my reach, whilst everything else makes me feel lost and helpless. Getting glam can at times be a woman’s way of putting on her war paint and becoming a more dominant figure. Sometimes appearing sexy is a woman’s response to fear and suffering, to be more confident and dominant than the person who is a direct threat to you. When I’m at ease, relaxed, happy and comfortable in my surroundings I am just as confident to dress down, cover up, go without makeup and not concern myself so much with how I look. I’m not trying to prove a point, stand my ground or impress anyone, I’m entirely at ease and in control, which some may interpret as not making an effort or being shy and retiring. Obviously I also dress up and make an effort to look nice when I’m happy and at ease, just as I dress down and feel helpless when something is outside of my control. The point I’m trying to make is that stereotyping and judging people based on their current appearance is an entirely unnecessary ignorance that we are better off without. Confident people can be shy and shy people can be confident at different times with different people 🙏🏼 #dontjudge #stereotype #confident #shy #myjourney」11月23日 19時39分 - tracykissdotcom
