Gerd Ludwigさんのインスタグラム写真 - (Gerd LudwigInstagram)「Nine years ago, on March 11, 2011, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster took place, due in part to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. It was the second largest nuclear accident in history (following Chernobyl) and the only other nuclear incident classified as a 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. The events in Fukushima revealed an amazing ignorance to the destructive nature of nuclear power, although not just in Japan. Even inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, that ignorance persists. Years ago, I was on assignment for National Geographic, documenting the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident when I accompanied a team of doctors making their rounds to remote villages inside the Zone. These villages are near-completely abandoned, with the exception of a few elderly “samosely” (self-settlers) who have—illegally—returned to their homes. After the doctors insisted, we met with one babushka, who enjoyed entertaining the rare visitors. As we spent time with her, she shared her homegrown vegetables, eggs from her chicken and her vodka (moonshine) made from potatoes grown in contaminated soil. As a photographer, I walk a thin line—I want to be safe, but also need people’s trust to make telling images, so I participated. @thephotosociety @natgeotravel #Fukushima #Chernobyl #nuclear #ExclusionZone」3月11日 21時01分 - gerdludwig
