Silent nursery inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. On the day the Nuclear Power Plant’s reactor #4 blew up, children oblivious to the nuclear accident played in this kindergarten of the reactor’s company town, Pripyat. The following day they were evacuated and had to leave everything behind – even their treasured dolls and toys.

I have been given the rare opportunity to return to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone and reactor #4 itself to document the highly contaminated areas beneath the New Safe Confinement and meet with victims, liquidators, and the few remaining returnees who are still living in the Zone.

As traditional media outlets lack the necessary funds to support long-term reporting, I have once again turned to the Kickstarter community, colleagues, friends, and followers for assistance in this endeavor.
