The Global Peace Photo Award is now accepting entries for its 2023 contest, both from professional and amateur photographers.

Photographs by: Artem Humilevskiy, Ukraine (top left), Mary Gelman, Russia (top right), Yael B.C, Iceland (bottom left), Sourav Das, India (bottom right).

This esteemed prize, formerly known as the Alfred Fried Photography Award, seeks to recognize and celebrate images that depict peace in the broadest sense of the word. Participants are invited to share their own unique interpretation of "what peace looks like" through their photographs. The contest is conducted in collaboration with Edition Lammerhuber and world-renowned organizations, with World Press Photo Foundation, UNESCO, and International Press Institute (IPI) amongst them. Entry is free of charge.

The top five photographers will be invited to the award ceremony in Vienna, Austria in September 2023, where the winner of the Peace Image of the Year will be announced. The winning photograph, deemed by the jury to best represent the concept of a harmonious future, will receive €10,000 and be displayed in the Austrian Parliament for one year before joining its Permanent Collection.

Children aged 14 and under are also invited to participate, with a separate category for the Children’s Peace Image of the Year, awarding €1,000.

The Global Peace Photo Award has assembled an esteemed panel of judges, including Lars Boering, the Managing Director of World Press Photo; Peter-Matthias Gaede, the renowned editor of GEO Magazine; Eric Falt, UNESCO; Lois Lammerhuber, publisher, photographer, and founder of the GPPA, among others. I am thrilled to announce that I will be serving on the jury for the 10th year. It is an honor to select images that serve such a vital purpose.

Entries are currently open until May 21, and further information can be found @globalpeacephotoaward.
