thephotosocietyさんのインスタグラム写真 - (thephotosocietyInstagram)「Photograph by @andyparkinsonphoto/@thephotosociety Kamchatka bear cub leaning on his mum – I was going to post a cropped version of this image, concentrating primarily on the leaning cub, but first I wanted you see this image in it’s entirety. It was one of those magical evenings and early on, before the last evening light came through this young cub sauntered up to his mum. In these moments it is impossible to guess at what the cub may or may not do so at all times I simply try to respond as best as possible. Fortunately I was shooting on my @nikoneurope 200-400mm lens, a zoom which always provides excellent versatility and responsiveness and it was this that enabled me to zoom out and include the stretching cub. First of all the cub simply went and sat next to his mum, the resulting images were nice enough. Then he blessed us further by deciding to stand up but the real joy was when he suddenly decided that he might like to recline against his mum, a privilege afforded to only the luckiest little bear cubs. None of us could believe our luck but our evening was not to end there, the little cubs soon came running over before the whole family went to fish in the river on the other side of us. It was here that we were able to photograph them using beautiful backlight, the resulting images will no doubt be posted here shortly. For now though I’ll leave you with this little fella, no doubt enjoying leaning into the soft, warm fur of an adult bear, arguably one of the safest places that anyone could find themselves. Thanks again to @nikoneurope for the loan of their rocket-ship D5, a camera that not only focussed super quickly and accurately but also allowed me to shoot a bewildering amount of images, images which I now need to sort through to try and decipher which ones are the best to process.
