​When it comes to adorable reptiles, this two-month old yellow-faced turtle is definitely at the top of our list. This species belongs to the genus Emydura, which is a group of turtles known for their moderately long necks. Adults can grow to be nearly a foot long, and have a life-span of 20-30 years. A resident of northern Australia, the yellow-faced turtle will almost always be found near a body of water and does not need to hibernate like other turtle species thanks to Australia’s warmer climate. You can help keep wild turtle populations healthy by leaving them in the wild, allowing them to thrive in their natural habitat. In Australia, it is illegal to take a yellow-faced turtle from the wild, and individuals must obtain a reptile licence before they are eligible to purchase a turtle as a pet. patrice_star25 They are cute but unfortunately, Pig-nose Turtles will always have a special place in my heart. A lot of them are smuggled through Singapore and end up in the wildlife sanctuary we have here. There’s a special one that always puts a smile on my face because he always looks like he’s smiling and waving hello. Great Photo!
