Did you know that the Bee Hummingbird (Mellisuga helenae) is the smallest bird in the world? Native to Cuba, the bird is so small that it’s often confused for a bee—hence, its common name! On average the tiny critter grows to be about 2.29 inches (5.82 centimeters) long, weighs .08 ounces (2.28 grams), and has a wingspan of 1.28 inches (3.25 centimeters). It feeds on nectar, as well as on insects and spiders that it might come across while poking through flowers with its uniquely-shaped bill.

I love watching hummingbirds. I installed a little waterfall on my back patio and they love it but fight over it.
