This species goes by many names thanks to several unique characteristics. ​The name camel shrimp comes from the hump formed by its abdomen, but it is also known as the candy shrimp because of its striking red and white coloration, and the dancing shrimp because of its movements. As the ultimate night owl, this shrimp was believed to be extremely rare until people started diving at night. The camel shrimp wasn’t rare at all – it was nocturnal!
