A magnificent songbird, the Javan green magpie is one of the world’s most endangered birds with fewer than 100 individuals remaining in the wild. In Indonesia it is believed that having one of these birds is a symbol of wealth and high social status, so they are often captured from the wild and sold in local bird markets. With their numbers continuing to decrease, the struggle for the magpie population to rebound becomes greater. Video taken @Taman_Safari.
