We’ve talked a lot about how eliminating the use of chemicals on your lawn can help insects, but did you know it could help species like the European hamster too? Once found from Siberia to the eastern part of France, this species is now isolated in western Europe due to persecution and intensive agricultural practices.Increased use of pesticides coupled with the loss of uncultivated land has had a negative impact on many hamster populations, especially in parts of Europe where their numbers have traditionally been considered stable.
