One of the finest works from Claude Monet’s iconic Haystacks series will highlight our marquee May auctions in New York. ‘Meules’ from 1890 is a masterwork of Impressionism, and one of the most celebrated images in art history. The magnificent painting – one of only eight from the series left in private hands – has remained in the same private collection since 1986, and has not been exhibited publicly since that time. ‘Meules’ leads an important private collection of eight Impressionist paintings that will anchor our Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Sale on 14 May, including works by masters such as Pierre Bonnard, Camille Pissarro, Édouard Manet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Signac, Alfred Sisley and Édouard Vuillard. Proceeds from the sale of the collection will significantly benefit two world-renowned, not-for-profit institutions in the fields of #science and #music.
