How do you mend a broken heart? ?

I've been getting lots of messages from both friends and girls on DMs about how to get over someone who breaks your heart. I've had my heart broken enough times to offer what I think is some good advice, so I thought I'd write it down here for anyone who needs to read it. ??

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Heartbreak is the worst feeling in the world, and it doesn't get any easier with experience. My heart was last properly broken last February, and I spent two weeks sleeping on my sofa. I contemplated if I wanted to live, asked myself "why me?", and felt I'd never recover. Now I am so bloody grateful the universe allowed him to f"ck it up early on because he did NOT deserve me. I'm so pleased I found out then and now I am HONESTLY really happy just doing me. ?

I will offer you the same advice I give all my friends: The next two weeks will suck and nothing anyone says will make you feel better. Allow yourself be sad. ?

Life is so scary when your future and comfort is taken from you when it's not your decision. Don't fight it, just allow yourself to be sad. You're allowed to mourn. I would highly recommend watching  the Pixar film Inside Out and reading Alain de Botton's Essays in Love! ??‍♀️

After 2 weeks you WILL start to feel better. You'll have ups and downs but you will see the light. Force yourself to make plans and stick to them, even when you don't want to. Force yourself to stop thinking about them or feeling sad, and when you get in a hole remind yourself that you deserve someone who loves you. Know that it will happen. Force yourself until you realise you're not forcing yourself anymore. ❤️

And let me end with this: If I told you that you'd meet the love of your life in 5 years time, how would you want to spend your time between now and then? ??‍♀️???❤️

welcometodorothysworld I’d add to that by saying you need to put on your hottest outfit night after night, make bad decisions, find a new favorite wine, and attract the real love of your life. Happiness is the only truly satisfying revenge!
