Meet the Iberian lynx (Lynx pardinus)! Native to parts of Spain and Portugal, it lives in Mediterranean scrublands, where it seeks out its main food source: the European rabbit. This cat came close to extinction in the 20th century as the European rabbit population nearly collapsed, partly from over-hunting by humans and partly due to disease outbreaks. Thanks to conservation efforts, the Iberian lynx population has begun to rebound, although it still faces habitat loss.
