I really wanted a nook. Like - really. I don’t know why but I think humans are drawn to corners where they can nest themselves. I wanted a big table for (as we say in America) “entertaining” (so Martha of me) but I also have meals on my own, or just with one friend, and didn’t want to be lost on a giant diner table.

I wanted both!

The thing is that in a modern house with open volumes there are no corners or nooks to be found. You have to create them. As I opened a window in the kitchen (more on that later) I lost a ton of storage space. That’s how the lightbulb came - why not extend the kitchen storage into the dining room and carve a nook out of this?

I showed a few images to @sarahshermansamuel and she came up with that magical corner that’s kind of breaking the internet ?. The @asplundstore table is a wonder, one of my favorite pieces of furniture.

Maybe weird, but I wanted a TV in my kitchen (the only place where I have a TV) (the nook is integrated in the kitchen) to watch @wendyshow while cooking (#kiddingnotkidding)(love you Wendy! Can’t wait to have you back on the show!) and this is the last piece of magic of the nook : the artwork is a TV! Made to look like a piece of art when it’s not in tv mode. You can chose your art and change it whenever you want. I think all TVs should be like that!

To finish we chose this natural leather back. It’s going to get stained and change color over the years, but that’s exactly the point ?

The nook became the place where I spend the most time - and the cutest place for long breakfasts, lunch & diner for two and deep talks about life (my favorites) and about what sneakers to wear (my other favorite).
