Why does it feel so good? . I have a childlike love of nature. It just makes me happy - and hiking is one of the best ways I know to connect with it, and to connect with myself. I am at @theranchmalibu right now, and a few days before leaving for the retreat, I could feel that I was losing my balance. My sleep was not great and I was starting to get into spinning mode. It’s okay, it happens - I think we all have a tendency at times to overthink, spin, even obsess about things. - what, you don’t? You’re lucky!!! I know I do. . So yeah it’s okay, but it’s important to find ways to deal with the spin. I’ve lived with anxiety and talked about it for, well, ever - and I know that if you don’t find outlets, it can get very tricky (panic attacks, depression, and many other things). . So now, I try to catch myself. I find ways to get out of my mind. . And to do that, the body is the best path. The more I move my body, the more I realize how much my body needs to move... And to be in nature. I sweat, I breathe, my worries dissolve, I take in the beauty of the world, I quite literally gain perspective. Sleep comes back, thoughts rearrange and peace, and love - they rise again. . While this retreat is a real challenge - check my stories if you want to see a little bit more - , it’s also a great way to remember how simple, so bloody simple it is to feel happy : sleep, move a lot, eat well. It’s been doing wonders and I am only starting the third day! . . Other things I love, that connect me with nature and make me move : snowboarding, swimming, imagining that I can surf, and next big one on my list is horseback riding - what are yours? .
