?today marks my 5 year recovery anniversary!!!it's been a journey I am so, so proud of??

?for those of you who might not know the backstory:
⠀
exactly 5 years ago today, I sat in my bedroom and made the choice to recover
⠀
?on this day, I had just come back from another hospital visit. another routine check up where I was told I was going to die, but Ana told me not to care.
⠀
I weighed so little, but felt like a burden. I was so small, but always far too much.
⠀
?drained from the day I just had, and the flight of stairs I had to climb to get to my room, I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes.
⠀
and I started to dream:

?In my dream I saw a girl that was vaguely familiar. by the poofy dress and the chocolate cake, I realized that it was her birthday! and dressed like a princess, she was eating her cake through a smile, dancing with absolutely no rhythm, and singing along to songs she's never heard before.

?this girl was in bliss - a girl so in the moment, that nothing could consume her. she wasn't concerned for calories or her weight, and she wasn't worried about measuring up to the ever so deceitful societal standards of beauty.

?that girl, with chocolate stained lips and lopsided bangs
that girl, with her dreams and curiosity
with her beauty,
and worth,
and innate deserving for life

that girl,
who was me?

⠀
and so, to make a long story short ish, my fight began??

I lived to tell the tale, and now I'm living for so much more?
⠀
