it's almost my 5 year anniversary from recovering from an eating disorder!!?

and never in my wildest dreams did I think recovery could be this good.

and no, not just my body. but everything that it's not?
⠀
recovery implies restoring to a previous state. but that never happened to me. instead, I went above and beyond where I once was. I grew from this illness, a battleground that had scarred me with strength.
it was never a recovery, but a discovery?

I discovered what it's like to be on my own team for once.
what it's like to jump into the unknown, unprotected by Ana and her comforting ways.
I learned what it's like to love myself in the dark,
eyes closed, faith rattled, and with a heart so vulnerable.
but life's unpredictability didn't leave me wandering without a sense of direction - rather I had a light.
and that light was ignited by self-love.
a love that doesn't wait up for people, for a body, or for attainment.
a love that put anorexia's prerequisites to shame,
because it was a love that said
"I am enough"?

and to anyone reading this - I am not special. I am not this one-in-a-million person to be amazed by with distinction from another person's capabilities.
