The Saudi-led war in Yemen has continued for over 3 years, killing thousands of civilians and creating what the @unitednations calls the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. But outside Yemen, the conflict has been largely overlooked. The Saudis barred foreign journalists from northern Yemen, scene of the biggest airstrike atrocities and the deepest hunger. It wasn’t until the apparent murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi in a Saudi consulate 2 weeks ago that the world took notice. Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman, now faces a fresh reckoning for his prosecution of the conflict. On a rare trip to the front line, @ニューヨーク・タイムズ reporter @declanjwalsh and photographer Tyler Hicks traveled to #Yemen to document what the war looks like up close.
