Photo by @クリス・バーカード. Spearfishing is one of the oldest known forms of fishing. Art that dates back 16,000 years depicts the practice and thousands-year-old texts record it as well. Revolutions in innovation have passed and yet it survives, here in the form of a speargun. Well, why? I think there’s something elemental about the practice that reaches deep into a person’s ancient heritage... like you’re following in the footsteps of civilization itself. By connecting with the push and pull of the ocean and the life therein, you come away with more than just dinner. Honestly, I don’t know why spearfishing still goes on since there are easier ways of getting dinner... but that’s my best guess. Fisherman @thetorpedopeople in Baja Mexico.
