It was the end of the day and most riders had loaded their horses and gone home but Mowaya was still playing with his horse Al Mash’hor (which means Famous in English), asking him to sit. Along with a few other stragglers I watched Mowaya gently tap his front legs, signaling for the horse to drop to his knees and then lay down on the sand, where he rolled over before sitting up. As the horse began to rise, head first, Mowaya stood beside him and used the reins to signal for him to halt half way, in a sitting position. Then he leaned in and embraced his neck.
