I rode Ajaj, an old bay gelding and followed Salem and his stallion Zelzilham through the surf. When sets of waves rolled in we lifted our feet out of the stirrups to keep them dry. I grew up riding horses, and driving them. Horses were my first love. Then I discovered photography. I miss having horses in my life dreadfully- too much travel as a freelance photojournalist doesn’t allow for it. You can imagine my utter delight when I was asked to go to Oman and photography Arab horses for National Geographic. This was the first time I’ve managed to combine my two passions and, quite literally, my dream assignment.
