I captured this view during a springtime sunrise while looking west toward Aoraki (Mount Cook), which rises 12,316 feet (3,754 meters). Sir Edmund Hillary trained here for his epic climb of Mount Everest, which stands more than 29,000 feet high (8,800 meters). The clouds in New Zealand are always amazing—often being lenticular because of high winds passing over the Southern Alps. #newzealand
