Photo by @babaktafreshi | On a moonlit night in Italy, star trails rotate above the roofless Abbey of Saint Galgano near Siena, Tuscany. In the 18th century, the unique 13th-century Gothic-style abbey was hit by a lightning bolt, which caused the bell tower to fall onto the church, destroying the roof. In this long-exposure image, Earth’s rotation causes star trails around the north celestial pole (marked by Polaris).
