At 22, @トロアイ・シヴァン has been famous for more than a decade, albeit in far-off corners of the globe and the internet. He sang his way into YouTubing, YouTubed his way into acting, and grew up on webcam (he came out on vlog at 18). Now, ramping up to the release of his 2nd album, he’s working hard to turn himself into a frisky pop phenomenon. With every TV appearance and video release, @トロアイ・シヴァン is barreling ahead, his identity worn proudly but easily. He’s here, he’s queer and he’s used to it. Earlier this year, #TroyeSivan did what pop stars do, and moved to Los Angeles. It’s a long way from Perth, in Western Australia, where he grew up and attended a small modern Orthodox Jewish school. For his young gay fans who mob his meet-and-greets, he leads a dream life. “I can’t squeeze them hard enough,” he told the @nytimesfashion reporter @matthewschneier. “Sometimes you hug someone and you can just feel too much weight in their chest for a 14-year-old.
