This was a tough one because it’s an area not open to public yet! I snapped this from within the future Jewel @changiairport work site yesterday.
If you have visited the airport recently, you must have noticed the elegant dome structure (it’s actually a toroid) being built behind the control tower, where the old T1 carpark used to be. This is the future Jewel development, which I talked about at the 2013 NDR.
When completed, Jewel will transform the Changi Airport experience. It will house exciting play attractions like a canopy bridge, mirror maze, walking trails, trampoline, and slides, as well as a hotel, retail and F&B outlets. The centrepiece will be the 5-storey high indoor waterfall surrounded by Singapore’s largest indoor garden.
A lot of work is still to be done, but it will certainly live up to its name when it opens in early 2019 – a spectacular jewel that showcases Changi airport and Singapore, and brings more travellers and business to us! – LHL (MCI Photos by Chwee)
