The Romanès family spends most of the year in the upscale 16th Arrondissement of #Paris. But they live in a small park, where their circus caravans have a permanent spot. The Romanèses are part of a #Roma community that is often the object of stigmatization in French society. (Alexandre Romanès, the patriarch of the family, prefers the term #tzigane.) In Paris, their neighbors weren’t always welcoming; 2 years ago, hundreds of costumes, instruments and pictures were stolen during the night. Now, though, everything is a bit more quiet. Recently, @kostyukov spent time with the troop as they rehearsed and performed. Having worked together for 23 years, the Romanèses have an unorthodox method of directing and organizing their shows. Every performance is prepared from scratch. Each cast member works on his or her own, and then brings the stunts to the show, which evolves spontaneously over 1 hour every night. Here, Alexandre and his daughter Rose practiced for a sketch with cats. Swipe left to see more images, and visit the link in our profile to read the full story. #?
