A peaceful beginning to the workweek was shattered this morning after an explosion rattled through one of the busiest transit hubs in New York City. The @nypd said that one person was in custody after the blast echoed through the passageway connecting the #TimesSquare and #PortAuthority subway stations shortly before 7:30 a.m. 4 injuries have been reported, according to the @fdny. The suspect, identified by the police as Akayed Ullah, 27, from Brooklyn, was in serious condition at Bellevue Hospital Center. In a news conference, @nycmayor Bill de Blasio called the blast an attempted terrorist attack and said no other devices had been found. @jeenahmoon captured the scene near the Port Authority Bus Terminal this morning.
